Puerto Lopez is a small fishing town on Ecuador's Pacific Coast which is best known among tourists as a launching point for whale watching and trips to Isla de Plata. However, as you walk along the coast you'll soon discover the town's real soul - the fishermen.

Well into the morning the beach is a buzz with boats landing ashore and the ensuing rush to offload the fish. The trader's trucks park as close as they can to the boats to speed up the effort but the loss of a few kilos of fish to the hundreds of albatross circling overhead is inevitable.
